When life gives lemons make lemonade
That’s what they told me to do.
They didn’t address the heartache,
The rawness of my broken heart.
I was supposed to just deal with it.
So that’s what I did.
I put on a smile, I laughed,
and shrugged it off with humor.
That’s what they saw.
What they couldn’t see was the guilt.
They couldn’t see the sleeplessness,
The pain that plague me every night.
Oh those lonely nights!
They couldn’t see the hope I lost,
And how much I hunged on.
The broken dreams, the broken relationships.
They couldn’t see it, because they wouldn’t.
They wouldn’t see, so when I changed,
they didn’t understand why.
They didn’t get why I became stronger,
Why I no longer looked to men,
But instead looked to God.
Because my God understood,
And my God saw it all.
I didnt have to pretend with him,
He drew me close with every tear.
He gave me hope, when I had none,
And put a new song in my heart to sing.
It’s because of my Jesus I am here today.
He is my hope, my song, my all!
He takes my lemons and uses it for His glory!
